The Most Underrated Channel on TV

Posted by Christopher Moltisanti on August 29, 2009

…Palladia. It’s live music…in HD…all the time. Right now, if you flip over, you might be lucky enough to catch two hours of live performances from this summer’s Hard Rock Calling festival in London, which includes six songs from The Boss (including an awesome Born to Run into Rosalita sequence, an epic Jungleland and an exhilarating London Calling opener).

Aside from Bruce, there’s good stuff from Dave Matthews Band, The Killers, Neil Young, Gaslight Anthem, Ben Harper and Relentless7 and more.

In addition to that smorgasbord of live music, Palladia runs VHI Storytellers, MTV Unplugged, CMT’s Crossroads (the combos range from the sublime: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss to the bizarre: Taylor Swift and Def Leppard) and a LOT of live concerts (Foo Fighters at Wembley, Green Day, Dave Matthews Band at Piedmont Park, Jeff Beck, etc.).

And all the bands they show are proven, established groups. So, if you’re looking for something to get you through the last few days of the summer TV doldrums, check it out.

I haven’t even heard of it. Is it available with most providers?

A music channel that actually plays music? How novel.

I’ve got Directv and I don’t see it in the lineup. Maybe I overlooked it.
