Liar liar pants on fire!

Liar liar pants on fire!

Who called it?  Johnny Sakalis was sent home this week for failing to deliver on a challenge that asked designers to create an outfit out of newspaper.  It was about time designers had to work with an unconventional material, if you ask me.  And frankly, they handled it quite well.  Much of what went down the runway tonight was really pretty good.  Christopher’s feathered design was gorgeous, and Irina’s trenchcoat was quite stunning as well.  Irina took the win for her creativity and execution.  (I was hoping for Christopher as that gown was beautiful.)
Johnny demonstrated his instability again by concocting a lie for his underwhelming design.  What REALLY happened was Tim Gunn told him he didn’t like the design, so Johnny ripped it up.  What Johnny TOLD the judges was that he had made a beautiful gown that was ruined when an iron dripped water all over it.  A blatant lie.  The most surprising aspect was that Tim Gunn got involved after Johnny had been eliminated.  He noted to the designers in the workroom that he did not know what that theatrical display was, but he disapproved of it.  This is the first time I can think of that Tim has gotten involved in the designers’ personal issues outside of design.  But telling a complete lie to the judges is pretty ballsy.  Johnny had to know he was going to get caught.  And he deserved to go home for his horrible execution.

Next?  Nicolas.  He was in the bottom this time, and his actions in the workroom this episode demonstrated that he is taking over eliminated designer Mitchell’s evil queen title.  All that talking and not enough designing.
