The Making of Bravolebrities

I found this interesting article in this morning’s New York Times. It documents the change of the Bravo network from stuffy to full of popular reality shows. As Clifford reports, “Viewers’ opinions, carefully observed and culled on the Web and pinpointed through more traditional market research, tend to dictate which Bravo stars graduate from ensemble reality shows to their own programs.”
Oh yeah, remember Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? Before that show, Bravo was showing chamber music recitals and dance shows.
Give this interesting piece a read if you’re interested in learning where it is that Bravo gets all the stuff they show and why even their fifth iteration of the Real Housewives series are so popular.
Short answer? They’ve done their research obviously.
