Two Guys, a Girl and a TV Set

Three college friends out in the world, filling the void with television…and loving it.

New on Mondays this Fall 2010

Posted by Mr. Feeny on August 31, 2010

As CJ mentioned, this blog is kicking into high gear again with all the September premieres. The summer months are a weird time to cover television. But I’m confident we’ll be back to our 2009 greatness this Fall. Think of it as our own personal writer’s strike (and ignore the fact that all those strike-affected seasons stunk).

Few notes about our premieres. We’re down to two reviewers. But CJ and I were pretty spot on in our analysis last year, so you can trust us. At least one of us. Second, neither of us have HBO or Showtime…so those shows are going to get the shaft. I know, they’re probably very good (especially Boardwalk Empire and Luck), but what can you do? If you want to pay me $30 a month so I can buy those channels, I’ll review the shows for you.

Last year, we previewed the upcoming shows by giving you some important info on each, plus an official video clip. I think that was a great little guide or cheatsheet, day-by-day, of the new shows, so I’m doing it again. Starting with Monday.

Remember, all times Central!

A summary of Monday: This could once again become my most-watched day of television. I thought I’d get a break with 24 gone, but nope. I will probably end up watching shows throughout the night while recording other shows to watch the next day. It starts with How I Met Your Mother, at the same time as House and Chuck. Then, two highly promising new dramas air against each other at 8 (the first two shows listed here), followed by the enjoyable Castle running with the much ballyhooed Hawaii Five-0 remake. Oh, and if you like Dancing with the Stars, that’s on too. If you’re looking for comedy, only CBS has it. But the Big Bang Theory inexplicably moved, to make room for Rules of Engagement (which somehow is still on the air).

Oh, and last year, all three new Monday shows failed. Accidentally on Purpose, The Jay Leno Show, and Trauma.

None of these new shows really grab me. But you’re right, Mr. Feeny, that HIMYM is supposed to be awesome this season, and I’m a sucker for DWTS!
